Alex & Mike
I got to meet Mike and Alex the day before their wedding for their engagement shoot at the Charles Carroll House in Annapolis. They were bubbly and so excited to get married. It was no different when I saw them 24 hours later on their wedding day. Alex and Mike met in medical school in Maine and did their residency programs in Ohio. Actually Mike has one more year left while Alex will be starting her career here in Maryland. I know this year will be a challenging one…first year of Alex’s career as a doctor and it being away from her husband. I felt like I got to see the strength of their love on their wedding day and I just know that they are going to come out even closer after this year is over.
The Wedding Day
We started the wedding day getting ready at the Loews Hotel in downtown Annapolis. Both Alex and Mike were very chill and just so happy to be getting married to each other. The forecast was rain…like 100% chance of rain all day. But you know what? Somehow, miraculously it held off. Mike and his groomsmen walked down to the docks from the hotel while Alex and her girls took the shuttle. The guys got a little lost on the way down…ha! But, after a bit we were able to find them and do the first glance with Alex and Mike. For those of you that don’t know, a first glance is when a bride and groom opt to see each other before the wedding. I loved that Alex got super emotional just walking up to see Alex. It was a emotional first glance and those are my favorite. After that, Alex and Mike were able to have a first glance with their dogs as well and I loved it! So special! After that, we headed to their venue, the Newton White Mansion in Mitchellville, MD. It was my first time working there and it was such a gorgeous venue. Weddings like this make me LOVE being an Annapolis wedding photographer. Alex and Mike your day was absolutely perfect. Congrats and best wishes!
And now for the dogs! The overcast sky was perfect to get portraits done and the docks were gorgeous. When you tell the guys to do a “bro hug” and they do this! That was a first timer. Love itAlex’s dress was so unique and stunning! After the first glance we made our way over to the Newton White Mansion where they had these amazing pink flowers. We luckily were able to get in a few portraits before the rain came. The rain stopped just in time to still have the ceremony outside…the timing couldn’t have worked out more perfect! When you walked into the ceremony site, they had the rings out to say blessings over them. I have seen the rings passed around before, but never placed out on the guest’s way in and I liked how they did that. Alex had her parents and sisters walk her down the aisle. Such a gorgeous setting for a ceremony at the Newton White Mansion. Also, Alex’s dad was the officiant and I loved that about their ceremony. So personal!Love the “his” and “hers” beer as the wedding favor.
Mike’s best man had Mike come up and say vows to him during the best man speech…it was hilarious and definitely a first for me to see at a wedding…and I’ve been to a lot of weddings! The Bachelor Boys kept the party going! Always so fun to work with them at weddings!Congrats Alex and Mike! Thank you so much for letting me capture your wedding day… it was such an honor. And thank you to the amazing vendors that made this day possible!
